Gruet

Albuquerque, NM
Founded in 1984, all facets of sparkling wine production occur at Gruet Winery led by Laurent Gruet with the assistance of his nephew, Sofian Himeur. Born and raised in Champagne, France, the Gruet family refused to compromise on the traditional winemaking style of Champagne. This translated into the purchase of specialized pieces of equipment, much of it from France, that is now used in the production of true Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine. Today, Gruet Winery is the largest urban winery in North America, housing the production facility, warehouse space and tasting room all at the heart of metropolitan Albuquerque and with views of the Rio Grande.
Unique Tools and Technology: Gruet Winery employs all the tools for proper Méthode Champenoise production. Laurent was trained to disgorge sparkling wine by hand, but today at Gruet winery we use modern machines for a more efficient process of sparkling winemaking from riddling to disgorging.
