Dan Morrison, Assistant Winemaker, Canoe Ridge Vineyard

Dan first joined the Canoe Ridge Vineyard team back in 1997, where he worked on the bottling line. He rose through the ranks to Cellar Master before accepting the position of Assistant Winemaker.

Dan was born and raised in Walla Walla and is no stranger to the wine industry as his family owns a vineyard in the valley. The land has been in his family for over 100 years and Dan played an intricate role in establishing the vineyard and the planting process back in 1994. The vineyard started as a five-acre plot and has expanded to almost 25 acres with over seven different kinds of grape varieties.

Ask Dan for his favorite Canoe Ridge Vineyard wine and he’ll tell you it’s the Malbec for consuming and the Syrah for crafting. “The new Malbec plantings at the Canoe Ridge Estate Vineyard have been producing very intense aromas and nice soft tannins and I have been enjoying every sip,” Morrison said. “The Canoe Ridge Vineyard Estate Syrah has been producing an enticing huckleberry aroma from crush to barrel.”

Off the clock he enjoys playing guitar, brewing small batches of beer and spending time with his family.
