Introducing Davey & Browne: Fellowship of Fine Wines

Award-winning wines from Australia’s McLaren Vale

SEATTLE – (June 11, 2019) – Precept Wine announces the addition of Davey & Browne to its internationally acclaimed portfolio of wines from Australia. Davey & Browne represents the culmination of a long, enduring friendship between noted Australian wine luminary Kym Davey and American wine entrepreneur Andrew Browne. Together, these lifelong friends harnessed a whirlwind of energy, enthusiasm and passion to create a fellowship of fine wines.

“The Davey Brothers are recognized internationally for their stellar wines. Davey & Browne is a special collaboration years in the making, based a friendship and a partnership that has spanned decades,” states Andrew Browne, Chief Executive Officer of Precept Wine. “We share a passion for adventure – for Kym it’s motorcycles and for me it’s fly fishing. These wines are an honest expression of shared experiences and lasting friendship, as well as an honorary tribute to our grandfathers.”

The Gordon and Bitner block from the Davey Estate vineyard, is named in honor of both Kym and John’s grandfather (Gordon) and Andrew’s grandfather (Bitner).

“These wines, created by my brother John, represent a celebration. We believe that passion and pride are attributes that can be gained from our forefathers, our upbringing, and our friendships throughout life,” says Kym Davey. “We are proud to recognize Gordon Hartley Sharpe’s vision over sixty years ago, by staking claim to our Estate.”

John and his brother Kym combined their talents in the 1990’s to further develop the Davey Estate Vineyard in McLaren Vale, one of Australia’s most renowned wine growing areas. The McLaren Vale region is located 45 miles south of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. The wines, each made in its distinct style, showcase the best the McLaren Vale region has to offer. They also represent a family committed to producing outstanding wines from the land they love.

Winemaker John Davey’s approach to crafting wine is modern and minimalist. Respecting the fruit is crucial, with small batch open fermentation, gentle handling, pressing and maturation, resulting in balanced, food friendly wines expressive of their terroir.

“When you own your own vineyard and make your own wines, you manage the site right down to the individual vine,” John Davey explains. “Our goal is to produce superior fruit that will make rich, ripe and complex wines, typical of McLaren Vale.”
