New National On-Premise Wine Brand Launches June
Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits has teamed up with Precept Wine to create Skyfall Vineyard, a Washington wine brand launching in June in select markets. Deutsch Family brings its marketing prowess and strong national distributor reach and Precept contributes significant vineyard holdings and a track record of exceptional winemaking. Together this partnership will produce premium offerings priced under $10 per glass for consumers to enjoy in restaurants only. Deutsch will handle sales, marketing and distribution while Precept will handle the viticulture and wine making to include Columbia Valley-appellated Pinot Gris, Merlot and Cabernet. The two companies wish to build the brand methodically, one glass at a time, restaurant by restaurant. Over time, both partners believe that together they can build a meaningful and scalable Washington brand.
Washington wines are on the rise. According to Nielsen, the region has experienced growth of 19.3% over the past two years. Contributing to this growth is spiking consumer interest, an increase in wineries and exceptional vintages.
“We have been interested in expanding our portfolio with Washington wines for some time, the key was to find the right partner that could make wines of exceptional quality at prices that offer consumers a great value,” said Tom Steffanci, President, Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. “We are fortunate to be partnering with Precept, a like-minded privately held company with an excellent track record producing outstanding Washington wines from their vast array of vineyards. This latest union follows in the footsteps of many others where we team up with partners who share our values and vision and who bring expertise in a wine region that shows great promise.”
The brand is inspired by a particular vineyard owned by Precept called Skyfall Vineyard, named for the spectacular view of the Yakima Valley and its neighboring Red Mountain, where the sky meets the mountain ridge. Another vista just south of Skyfall Vineyard is a popular site for hang gliders, also befitting the name.
“We are thrilled to see the interest and investment in Washington State by Deutsch Family, which will only help strengthen Washington’s presence in the global scope of the wine business,” said Precept Wine President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Browne. “The opportunity to work with Deutsch Family is exciting since we’ve long recognized the potential synergies between our companies, and the cultures of the two companies complement one another. Deutsch has a real ability to activate relevant, enduring brands in the marketplace, which is nothing short of world-class.”
