Canoe Ridge Vineyard winery site of donated Dream Wedding package

The sound of wedding bells are chiming for Michelle Roberts and David Mercado of Pasco, a couple that will celebrate their dream wedding Feb. 15 at the Canoe Ridge Vineyard winery, as part of a Walla Walla Dream Wedding Giveaway. A group of local vendors joined forces to make about $40,000 in wedding expenses the prize of  a contest to unite deserving pair that has gone through life-altering circumstances and hardship.

Led by Without a Hitch Weddings + Events and Gigi Hickman Photographs,  applications and video presentations streamed in. A panel of judges resoundingly agreed on their winner decision.

The couple explained on KNDU televsion they suffered  hardships following birth complications with two of their children. Just months after being born, their third child died. Their second child will undergo a surgery in Seattle soon. The two have been engaged for five years. Their ceremony will be held at Canoe Ridge Winery, 1102 W. Cherry St., a century-old national historic landmark site that first served as Walla Walla’s trolley house.

Everything from the venue, to the rings, music, food and wardrobe will be provided at no charge to the couple.

Wedding planner Carrie Brennan, who owns Without a Hitch, told reporters the ceremony comes at a typically slower time in the wedding industry and serves as a chance to do something good around a holiday dedicated to demonstrations of love.

The winery ceremony site will now have another anniversary to celebrate: This year mark’s the winery’s 20th year in Walla Walla. A producer of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay from its Horse Heaven Hills vineyard, the winery has more than 30 scores of 90 points or higher from critical wine publications. Cheers to what promises to be a heartfelt big day!
