The Davey Estate, which covers 300 acres, is located between the two main townships of McLaren Vale and Willunga in the southern end of the stunning, acclaimed McLaren Vale wine region in South Australia. Kym and John Davey planted and nurture their family owned and sustainably managed estate vineyard on land their grandfather purchased in the 1950’s. Their goal is to produce high quality, single-vineyard wines. Modern viticultural practices that minimize soil disruption and encourage a balanced environment are used.
Like most winemakers, John Davey adheres to the adage that “great wine begins in the vineyard,” but few winemakers can claim the enviable position that John enjoys today: overseeing winemaking from vine to bottle, an advantage that John believes gives the Shingleback portfolio a competitive edge.
