Chardonnay - Washington
Great Northwest Wine- "Best Buy! Precept winemaker Hal Landvoigt takes the lead on this label, which features wines made with either Washington or Idaho fruit. In this case, it draws from six vineyards spread out from the Yakima Valley to the Horse Heaven Hills — including Willow Crest and Wallula — and incorporates Viognier (10%) and Semillon (2%). Techniques using eight months in French and American oak with 20% malolactic fermentation help build the nose of Golden Delicious apple, Asian pear, lemon/lime and jicama. Flavors of fresh-sliced pear and Gala apple splash around amid a slightly creamy mouth feel prior to the finish of lime-like acidity and dusty minerality. These wines have found an audience this year on some Horizon flights."
Brilliant yellow-gold color, this Chardonnay explodes from the glass with butterscotch and honeysuckle scents sprinkled with hints of butter. The rich mouthfeel is filled with dried apricots, apple and lingering toast notes and a lovely, balanced acidity on the finish.
